Introduction
The Hokkai-ryu dojo is a member of the Sigecu Ho Nan Kai (SHNK) organization, which aims to preserve and pass on the traditions of Tosa Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu based on the teachings of Iwata Norikazu sensei (sensei = teacher).
The community you join will support, inspire, and progress with you. It doesn’t matter where you start: iaido guides everyone on their own path. Training in the community gives us the opportunity to meet people with similar values and help each other develop—not only technically, but also as human beings. The dojo is a place of trust, responsibility, and mutual respect, where everyone progresses at their own pace, yet together.
Practicing iaido builds a bridge between tradition and the modern world. It helps you slow down in your busy everyday life and become more focused, conscious, and balanced. The way of the sword is not only about perfecting your movements, but also about creating inner harmony.
If you are looking for an activity that trains the body, mind, and spirit at the same time—if you want to experience what it feels like when every movement is born in the present moment—then come and experience what the way of the sword means in your own life.
Why is it good to practice iaido nowadays?
Because iaido trains persistence, humbleness, patience, precision; as well as it gives a tool to coping with daily stress; at the same time it helps how to maintain body and soul properly, respect to others, ourselves and to the life. It deepens self-knowledge, intuitions and the trust in them.
